In developing the Super App, the team addressed critical challenges in the Indian healthcare context:
  • Inefficient OPD Management: Doctors grappled with time-consuming manual prescription processes during busy periods, lacking efficient digital solutions.
  • Non-Digitalized Patient History: The absence of a digital platform for sharing medical histories led to disjointed patient care when consulting different doctors.
  • Challenges in Remote Learning: The COVID-19 pandemic hindered doctors from attending vital conferences and accruing CME points.
  • Multilingual Support Requirement: India’s linguistic diversity necessitated a platform capable of handling multiple languages for effective doctor-patient communication.
  • Unified Platform Need: A gap was identified for a single platform catering to both OPD operational needs and doctors’ professional development.
  • Manual OPD Processes: Slow and inefficient manual prescription authoring in OPDs was particularly problematic during peak hours.
  • Multilingual Prescription Challenges: Doctors required a system to author legible, multilingual prescriptions for varied patient demographics.
  • Lack of Digital Prescription Storage: Patients and doctors faced inconveniences due to the unavailability of a system for digitally storing and sharing prescriptions.
  • Inadequate Medical History Management Tools: There was a lack of digital tools for patients to share their medical history with various doctors.
  • Unsuitability of Existing Tools for High Patient Volume: Current documentation tools were impractical for doctors dealing with a high volume of patients.

Approach

We designed and rolled out the following solutions as a part of this product:
  • Tablet-Based Digital Solution: Designed a tablet app with a multi-page infinite canvas, accommodating various prescription authoring styles, including freehand, templatized, and personalized options.
  • AI-Powered Digital Ink Recognition (DIR): Developed a custom AI model for converting handwritten prescriptions into digital text, capable of recognizing complex medical terminology with high accuracy.
  • Optimization for High Patient Volume: Ensured the app was suitable for doctors with large patient footfall, addressing the impracticality of keyboard-based documentation.
  • Multilingual Support: Integrated multilingual capabilities to cater to the diverse linguistic needs of Indian patients.
  • Digital Prescription Management: Included features for storing and printing prescriptions, facilitating easy access for patients and doctors.
For the virtual conference management tool:
  • End-to-End Virtual Conference Management: Developed a comprehensive solution for managing conference registration, attendance, feedback, CME points, and certificate dispatch.
  • Gamification and Engagement: Introduced gamification and a leaderboard to enhance user engagement within the app.
  • Integration with OPD App: Leveraged the existing user base of the OPD app to introduce the conference management solution.
